Hook Island Wilderness Resort is set in a heavenly spot in the Whitsundays, Australia. That is, if your idea of heaven is the beach, nestled amongst Australian national park, and surrounded by the stunning Great Barrier Reef.

Your swim will reveal hundreds of tropical fish darting in and out of the exquisite coral reef. Hook Island Resort also has a peaceful campsite if you are keen to truly be at one with nature during your holiday.

If you want to explore the Whitsundays' underwater delights without getting your hair wet, visit the island's historical Underwater Observatory, which leads you six metres below the water's surface to view some of Australia's most beautiful marine life and coral species.

Other activities include snorkelling, kayaking, fishing, putt putt golf, tennis, sea cruises and wildlife safaris. If you are visiting between July and October, keep your eyes peeled for whales passing the island during this time.

The restaurant is open daily and is fully licensed. It offers fresh meals and snacks, and even basic grocery items for campers or those looking to enjoy the bbq facilities. The Barefoot Bar is, as its name suggests, a relaxed meeting place where you can enjoy a cold beverage and meet your fellow resort guests.
